Tusker House- Animal Kingdom (Breakfast) This is my favorite character dining spot. I was so impressed with the food, service, and characters on my first visit in October 2014. I had only heard excellent reviews which is always a good sign. I visited for a late breakfast at 10:30am. We arrived a few minutes early to check in and were seated at a few minutes before 10:30. The check in staff were friendly and very welcoming. You have the option to take a photo outside before your seated. At breakfast the meal is a buffet and like the other characters come around to your table. The food was spectacular which sometimes can be an issue at buffets. The characters were great. Daisy insisted by father take a picture with her even though he was more there for the food then characters! Donald and Mickey were also super fun and excited to greet guests. Like some other character dining there is a quick parade around the restaurant where the little ones are encouraged to join. If your looking for a character dining breakfast I highly suggest this one!
Ohana's- Polynesian (Breakfast) Ohana is the go to breakfast for my last day on property, this has been a tradition for my sister and I for many years. She loves seeing Stitch and I love seeing Mickey in his Hawaiian shirt. The characters here are usually very interactive, on my last trip Stitch was trying to eat my birthday ears which made for a fun picture. My previous trip Mickey was super excited to see the shirt I was wearing. Lilo and Pluto also usually meet here, once I saw a little girl dressed up like Lilo and she kept coming back to visit her. The food is served family style in a skillet and they are very careful to bring out a skillet just for anyone with allergies. Since Stitch’s departure from the Magic Kingdom in October 2015 this is the only place to meet him, Lilo hasn’t been meeting in the parks for a few years so this is the only place to meet her as well. In the last year the Mickey waffles here have been replaced by Stitch waffles but that is always subject to change. Service here is very quick and friendly, they always offer more food and drink which is great if your fueling up for a day in the parks or a trip home.
Be Our Guest- Magic Kingdom (Dinner) This is my favorite meal experience in all of Disney World. I say experience because you truly feel like your dining in Beasts castle. This restaurant is quick service for breakfast and lunch. This is the only meet location for the Beast in Disney World. You eat and then visit with him in his study on the way out. The food here is amazing and I was so thrilled to get reservations on my birthday trip since I had been trying since the opening. Severs are very friendly and helpful with any questions. You can walk around and take pictures, the best is the West Wing where you can view the enchanted rose. I sat in the main dining room which was a bit louder then the West Wing but it wasn’t as dark. Beast has a photopass photographer with him so if you have a Memory Maker then your covered. The photographer will also take photos with your camera or phone. If your more interested in the decor then meeting Beast breakfast and lunch accept special fastpasses (you’ll get an e-mail if they are still offering them), you can make a reservation, or sometimes you may luck out and get in walking up. During breakfast and lunch you order at a kiosk and food is brought out to you.
Chef Mickey- Contemporary (Breakfast) This is one of the most popular character dining experiences on Disney Property and reservations can be hard to come by for breakfast but they are also open for lunch and dinner. I have had breakfast here twice and dinner once. I enjoyed breakfast a bit more because the food stayed warmer. Characters that meet here are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. During my visits Donald and Goofy have always been the most excited and fun. Mickey was great with my cousin during his 3rd birthday celebration. He told Mickey to “go back in the kitchen to cook my food.” That was a funny moment. This restaurant is very busy and if you show up early you will be waiting to be seated since it is extremely rare for a cancellation or no show.
Honorable Mention- 1900 Park Fare at Grand Floridian and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall at Epcot in Norway. 1900 Park Fare has a character dinner with Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella. The food here is average but the characters are very fun especially the Tremaines. Akershus is the under-appreciated princess character dining spot. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I visited for dinner a few years back. Aurora was greeting guests with a complementary picture (printed, I’m not sure if this is still true). During my visit Ariel, Jasmine, Snow White, and Cinderella all came around to the tables. The princesses were all fun and the food was great as well.
